Inspiration.....Alfred Gregory
Alfred Gregory (Greg) 1913 – 2010 - FBIPP Hon FRPS climber, explorer and photographer was born in Blackburn, Lancashire UK. During the second World War he served as an officer in the Black Watch in North Africa and Italy.
In 1952 he was with Shipton’s Cho Oyu expedition in Nepal and in 1953 he was chosen as a climbing member of the British team, led by John Hunt, which made the first ascent of Mt Everest where he reached 8500 metres in support of the Hillary and Tenzing successful summit attempt. He was also the official stills photographer for the expedition.
Alfred Gregory first saw Mt Everest in 1952 during an expedition led by Eric Shipton. In 1953 he was selected as a climbing member of the British expedition led by John Hunt to attempt the first ascent of the mountain and he reached 8500 metres in support of Ed Hillary and Tenzing Norgay’s successful summit attempt.
He was also the official stills photographer for the expedition and his images convey the incredible beauty of the Himalaya in an era when the area was still a pristine environment. His awareness of the need to present the story as an art form was always of great importance to him.

WOOLRICH JOHN RICH & BROS BY FROST RIVER BAGS SPRING/SUMMER 2012 COLLECTION
Here is a look at the Spring 2012 collection from The Woolrich John Rich & Bros collaborative effort with Frost River. The collection which was showcased at Bread & Butter, Berlin, features heavy duty bags made from tough canvas. I like how they combined the navy canvas and the yellow, and incorporate leather accents which provide excellent contrast. Photography provided by Selectism.
